I
have always been intrigued by words and movement, language
and physicality, literature and theatre. Throughout
my studies and my work, I have sought to (and continue
to seek to) integrate these dual facets. I pursued my
graduate studies at New York University, with an emphasis
in Hebrew Literature. Outside Academia, I had to ‘move’.
I have been a dancer for many years, with a focus on
hip-hop and street jazz, having trained and performed
in both Vancouver and New York. Inevitably, in my ongoing
quest for creative expression in both language and movement,
I turned to theatre.
My theatre training spans both sides of the Atlantic;
I studied classical acting at the London Academy of
Performing Arts, and contemporary theatre at various
studios in New York including Circle in the Square and
T. Schreiber studio. Since having moved to Sarasota
three years ago, I have had the pleasure of performing
with Sarasota Actors Workshop (Plays That Give Pause),
in Sarasota Jewish Theatre’s Meshuggah-Nuns (Sister
Amnesia), at Venice Little Theatre’s production
of Cabaret (Fritze), and at the Backlot’s production
of The gg Monologues (Miss June). I am currently preparing
the role of Lisa Morrison for an upcoming performance
of Donald Margulies’ Collected Stories.
Off stage, I am adjunct professor of Hebrew Language
and Literature at New College of Florida, and delight
in the daily joys and tribulations of being a mother
to a very active toddler. |
