Steven
Grabo has been performing all his life and has been
found in every medium available. From large concert
venues and theaters to radio, television, video,
the Internet and film, which he continues to pursue
to this day. His training ranges from the vocal
and theater teachings of Katherine Heckard, tutorial
classes at Carnegie Mellon and Millersville University
as well as studied under Hollywood icon Mala Powers,
executor to the Michael Chekhov Studios in Los Angeles,
California.
From
1993 - 1998, Steve was the front man for the alternative
rock band, IRIS, under the Rockville Record label.
He has also written, voiced and produced thousands
of studio productions and radio programs, including
the comical snippets of "The Elderly Superfolks".?
It was during this time, he was fortunate to be
a part of such films as "Dine and Dash",
"Karma", "The Bill Ney Story",
"Girl Interrupted" and play music with
several well known musicians before packing his
bags and moving South.
From 1999-2001, Steve became the Production Director
for Adventure Radio Group, where he wrote, produced,
and voiced the majority of the commercials for the
company, while being a full-time On Air personality
for 5 of their 7 stations. It was there that Steve
came up with the concept of forming a comedic acting
troupe. He then placed a bunch of his comical snippets,
from his various broadcasts, on a CD and "The
Misplaced Comedy Group" was formed. A brief
popular episode ensued from the release of the CD,
that led him to performing live improv with several
of his friends to help promote the CD.
In mid 2000, after winning several acting and modeling
awards at an AMTC National Convention, he moved
on to work with Writer/Director Genevieve Ramsey's
"Pushcart Players" for two seasons while
performing Stand-Up Comedy from Charleston, SC to
Savannah, Ga. He then hosted various performing
arts events as well as comedy at Savannah's Premier
Comedy and Jazz Club 'Spats,' Beaufort County's
World Famous 'Night Moves,' and 'Club Xtreme', before
moving to Sarasota, Florida.
While in Sarasota, Steve worked with a variety of
directors while performing with as many people as
possible to help rebuild The MCG's Live show, as
well as filming several short projects. He produced
additional material for more CD releases which have
been aired on CNN and Fox Television, as well as
various radio programs, such as "The Dr. Demento
Show".
In 2006, he started writing, videotaping and editing
comical sketches for an 'interactive' Live and Video
show, which has never been done or performed before
by any other comedic troupe. The show went on for
2 weeks in various locations on Florida's Gulf Coast,
and helped to promote their 9th CD "Un-Real
Estate", an ironic CD, which was created prior
to the demise of the actual market the following
year.
In
2007, American Idol Magazine published The Misplaced
Comedy Group as being one of the "Best Emerging
Artists of the Year", as Steve penned and produced
five #1 comedy singles on their music charts during
that season.
Most recently, after a 10 year hiatus, Steve teamed
up with the Hall Of Famed drummer from his previous
band, IRIS, and has been entertaining the notion
of getting back into music. With Misplaced Comedy's
10th CD in post production, a sponsored screenplay
in the works for the troupe and various up and coming
acting and musical performances on the way, I believe
we'll be hearing much more from Steven Grabo in
the near future.
