Artist's
Bio: Ramona Mayer, a native of Arkansas, has lived in Florida
for eighteen years. Ramona was born in Nuremberg Germany and
has moved around the United States extensively. Currently she
is a full time college student pursuing a fine art major at
Florida Gulf Coast University and she will pursue teaching professionally
upon graduation. Ramona Mayer is an award winning artist in
various mediums from Manatee Community College and many other
local art exhibits. She is accomplished in a variety of artistic
fields including sculpture, illustrative design, ceramics, photography,
and painting. She has had solo exhibitions, received awards
in group exhibitions, and has art work in private collections.
Upon the completion of her first year of formal art training
she was awarded the prestigious Women's Contemporary Artist
Scholarship Award in 2005 for outstanding ability in studio
fine art. She currently serves as a board member, art instructor,
and director of youth classes for the North Port Art Center,
North Port, Florida. She is also a member artist of the Women's
Contemporary Artists of Sarasota, FL.
Artist’s Statement: Artistic expression has been
present throughout my life. My first creative passion was photography
and my creative growth has evolved with the milestones of my
life and the explorations of new mediums. Before my formal education
in fine art I always found my creative outlets in various areas
of my life such as gardening, landscaping, interior design or
my children’s costumes. While I enjoy all forms of artistic
expression I am drawn to painting the most. I prefer to paint
primarily with oils. Painting is a release of my emotions, passions,
and the nocturnal landscape of my dreams. It allows me to release
my visions with luminosity and a bold bounty of color. I paint
with a poetic surrealism as that is how I envision the subjects
of my work. |
